Support our GK USTMD73 Village!

    Now that we have a Gawad Kalinga class legacy village, we need to support it.  Get involved!  Classmates from the Philippines and anywhere in the world can visit the village.  This is our village, it belongs to all members of class 1973.  There are 46 families living in our USTMD73 Village.  We have 37 completed GK homes.  There are 9 remaining shanties within our village waiting for generous donors who will donate homes for them.

    How do you do this?  There are many ways to make sure our village is sustained.  DONATIONS are always needed.  GET TO KNOW the residents or beneficiaries.  Your presence is important because it reassures the residents that we care.  Next time you're in the Philippines, please VISIT THE VILLAGE.  Find out the wonderful things we have done to make a difference in so many lives.  If you have TIME to teach a child, read to a class, or administer care to the residents, this is valuable.  Teach them a TALENT or two, perhaps playing a musical instrument, painting, drawing, or whatever it may be.

    Towerville is being called "Tomasian Village" mainly because Tomasians have established many villages in the area.  To name a few:  USTMAAA Village, USTMED74 Village, Tau Mau Village, USTMD58 Village,  USTMD79 Village, Barrio Paraiso (donated by our own Tim Gabriel), & our USTMD73 Village.

What are we doing worthwhile?

• We donated a whole village to Gawad Kalinga and named it USTMD73 Village.  Our village is in the Towerville resettlement located in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, Brgy. Minuyan, Phase 4b, Block 3.  There are 37 homes in the village.
   
• A dear classmate, Dom Mendoza, passed away recently.  For starters, our class sent his family $1000 thru classmate, Robert Sy.  His family lives in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.  His widow, Cynthia Mendoza, sent a thank you text message to Rory Payawal to share for the rest of the class..."Good am doc.  This is cynthia mendoza, yng wife ni late dr.doming.  I like to extend my gratitude for d help ur extending to our daughter fiona nika.  d money u gave thru dr.Sy wud surely be of  help in her schooling. thanks a lot!"

• We hope to become a nonprofit organization to be able to fund future ambitious projects.  The chairman is Boy Abay.  We encourage all members to contribute their ideas and send them to Boy.  Tim Gabriel is working on making USTMD73 a nonprofit organization in Delaware.

• We sent Vic Velez who is suffering from colon cancer a check for $500.
